National Key Laboratory for Die & Mold Technology



        National Key Laboratory of Plastic Forming Simulation and Die & Mold Technology is the Chinese government sponsor national incubator center for R&D in plastic forming, new materials research and die & mold technology. Their main focus is on new forming and mold technology, new material research, develop technical expertise personnel, technical transfer between state and country to further enhance China mold technology and industries development in long run.

        The Lab will deploy the material forming process theory and simulation, computerize mold design and manufacturing technology (CAD/CAM), fast forming and molding, precision forming technology & tools, state-of-art material manufacturing and applications as their research areas.

        The Lab also provide academic engineering courses for master, PhD and Post PhD; where the members consist of 30 full time researchers which consist of  1 academic professor, 20 professors,  20 over lecturers; 30 over visiting researchers, 10 plus post PhD personnel; 300 master degree and 100 PhD undergraduate.

The Lab has been involved in more than 100 researches, where 2 for the core national  research project, 2 for 973 category, 5 for the 863 category, 32 for natural sciences projects, 80 for the state level, 5 for the international researches JV. The Lab also received 2 national rewards, 10 state level rewards and 30 plus patent for the innovative researches.

Personal Resume of Professor Li Zhigang



        Professor,Huazhong University of Science and Technology。He graduated from the Machinery Manufacture Department of the Tsinghua University in 1970,and got the master degree in the Metal Processing Department of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1980, He had worked at the University of Birmingham as a visiting scholar in 1984.

 

        Professor Li has long engaged in teaching and researching on the plasticity processing theory and technology, which mainly includes plasticity forming simulation, mould CAD/CAE/CAPP/CAM, Computer Integrated Manufacturing System (CIMS) and reverse engineering and so on.

 

        He has accomplished several technology research projects like precision-stamping mould CAD/CAM, stamping & cutting mould CAD/CAM, color TV set component mould CAD/CAM, Automobile Panel Die CAD/CAPP/CAM and CIMS application project etc.

 

        His research findings drive the mould industrial technologies forward and obtain obvious economic effects in the practical application.

 

        As being a General Designer, he undertook a national project, namely, Dongfeng Motor Corporation CIMS Application Project, and established a CAD/CAPP/CAM integrated system for the design and manufacturing of automobile body and panel dies, which shortens the design and manufacture cycle more than 1 year.

 

   He has received the prize of University Leading Award issued by SME. He published 7 books, such as Mold Computer Aided Design, Mold CAD/CAM, Computer Application in Near Net-shape Operation etc., and more than 120 papers.










Personal Resume of Professor Li Jianjun


        Professor,Huazhong University of Science and Technology。 He got   bachelor, master and doctorial degrees in Huazhong University of Science and Technology respectively in 1985, 1988 and 1995, and then engaged in the postdoctoral research work in the Florida International University, USA over 1997~1998。Now he is the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Material Processing and Die & Mould Technology at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

 

        His prime research interest is to develop Computer integrated systems for Die & mould. These systems will be established based on the mechanics of material deformation, intelligent design methodology,Optimized algorithms and so on, and aim at reducing development time and manufacturing cost. His Current on-going projects are micro-forming of metallic glass, sheet metal forming with variable speed stamping, SOA-based integrated design and manufacture system for die & mould, Production dynamic scheduling and knowledge-based design for die & mould.

 

        He has finished more than 20 projects in recent years, which included Natural Science Funds of China (NSFC) projects, MOST supported projects, international cooperation projects etc.. He has also developed a series of specialized CAD/CAM software and Production management system (eMan) for die & mould industry. As being a major partner of SIMENZE PLM ( UGS ) in China, his group has built a long-term cooperation relationship with the company and finished a series of commission projects, such as Progressive Die Wizard of UGNX. So far he has published 4 books and more than 80 papers.
